Adult Sunday School Classes

Salt Shakers This class is made up of very active members who are in the retirement stage of life. They follow the International Lesson Series which systematically covers the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. They put faith into practice by caring for one another, supporting missionaries, and practicing hospitality by regularly hosting guests of the church at "Potluck" Sunday lunches. They meet on the main level in Room 281. Their teacher is Ellen Harmeling.

Upper Room This discussion oriented class uses the International Lesson Series. This is a systematic study of the Scriptures moving back and forth between Old and New Testament books. The atmosphere is informal to promote a healthy exchange that encourages members to wrestle with their understanding and application of God's Word in their lives. As the name implies, they meet on the upper level of the Nelson Building (over the church office) in Room 340. The class is led by Jane Terry and is taught by several of its members.

Lamplighters The Lamplighter class is an adult class that gathers each Sunday to study God's word so that we may better know God's word, grow in obedience and further the work of the Lord. Additionally, the Lamplighters are active in all areas of the church ministry. Missions are of special interest to this class. The class offers support to missions in activities, encouragement, prayer and with finances. Members of the class bring a wealth of knowledge. Each is prepared to engage in the study of the weekly lessons and to share this knowledge as well as related experiences. They support one another with prayer, encouragement and appropriate assistance. They also honor, respect and love (agape) one another, therefore, many deep friendships have been developed. Thanks be to God. This class meets in Room 220 and is taught by Lorin Bice.

Breakfast Club This class is for young adults who fit a wide range of ages and life stages. The class is designed to provide fellowship and to facilitate relationship building. Faith Works This is a class with members from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, who all share the common struggles of Christians in today's world. As a class, they take time weekly to pray for one another as well as for others. Together they strive to grow in their faith and love for Christ. They attempt to reflect God's love for them by supporting one another in all things as well as service to our church and community. Class members are for the most part still young adults, although not all of their birth dates indicate so. They meet in the Seminar Room (Rm. 260). The main course of study is a systematic walk through the Bible while offering a very discussion-oriented lesson that is always open for questions or the leading of the Holy Spirit. Lessons are led by David Nelson and Fox Rawlings. Each has his own unique style of lesson preparation and delivery that keep our studies meaningful, interesting and even fun! As a class, they enjoy several social gatherings throughout the year. They also enjoy serving the Lake Wales Community through the Care Center and the class "Sunshine Offering" fund.
